This tapestry, entitled "The Arming and Departure of the Knights", is a rendition of one in a series of 5 pieces called "The Quest of the Holy Grail". Each piece recounts King Arthur's search for the Holy Grail. This is the second scene illustrating ladies of the court assisting knights prepare for the quest. In the scene, we see Queen Guinevere handing Excaliber to King Arthur. The original Medieval era inspired tapestries were designed Edward Burne-Jones (1833 - 1898), William Morris (1834 - 1896) and John Henry Dearle (1860 - 1932).
